Intune enrollment
Fix Intune enrollment error 0x80180026 (MDM blocked)
0x80180026 · MENROLL_E_DEVICE_MANAGEMENT_BLOCKED Checked against Microsoft Learn
Quick answer
0x80180026 means Windows refused MDM enrollment because management is blocked on the device. Microsoft's Intune guidance ties it to joining a Windows device to Microsoft Entra ID while MDM automatic enrollment is on and the legacy Intune PC software client (the Intune PC agent) is still installed. Remove the PC agent, or turn off MDM automatic enrollment for that scenario, then join again.

Common causes
- MDM automatic enrollment is enabled in Microsoft Entra ID and the Intune PC software client (Intune PC agent) is installed on the computer you're joining to Microsoft Entra ID.
- Group Policy or the SetManagedExternally function has blocked MDM on the device (the generic meaning of MENROLL_E_DEVICE_MANAGEMENT_BLOCKED).
How to fix 0x80180026
- If it's installed, uninstall the Intune PC software client agent. Microsoft lists this as one fix.
- If you can't remove the agent, the other documented fix is to turn off automatic enrollment: in the Azure portal go to Microsoft Entra ID > Mobility (MDM and MAM) > Microsoft Intune, set MDM user scope to None, and select Save.
- Retry the Microsoft Entra join and enrollment.
